Annual Vignette

The annual vignette is the most economical option for anyone who regularly uses Austria's motorways. It is valid not just for one calendar year, but from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the year after next — effectively 14 months of validity.

The annual vignette is available for cars, motorcycles, and motorhomes up to 3.5 tonnes. It entitles the holder to unlimited use of all toll-liable motorways and expressways in Austria, excluding special toll sections.

Validity Start: 1 December of the previous year (earliest purchase: 1 November)
Validity End: 31 January of the year after next
Price 2025 (Car): €96.40 incl. VAT

2-Month Vignette

The 2-month vignette is ideal for seasonal travellers, holidaymakers with longer Austrian stays, or people who regularly use Austrian motorways for a limited period. It is valid for 60 consecutive days from the chosen start date.

The start date can be freely chosen at the time of purchase — for the digital vignette, up to 18 days in advance. The vignette is non-transferable and applies only to the registered licence plate (digital vignette) or the vehicle to which it is affixed (sticker vignette).

Validity Period: 60 days from chosen start date
Price 2025 (Car): €29.00 incl. VAT
Price 2025 (Motorcycle): €14.50 incl. VAT

Recommended For:

  • Summer tourists with 4–8 week Austrian stays
  • Seasonal workers in Austria
  • People temporarily working in Austria on a project
  • Travellers using Austria as a base for excursions to neighbouring countries

10-Day Vignette

The 10-day vignette is the most affordable option for short-stay visitors and transit drivers. It is valid for 10 consecutive days from the chosen start date, making it ideal for weekend trips, short holidays, or transit journeys through Austria.

Important: The 10-day vignette is valid for 10 days, not 10 individual journeys. Driving multiple times on the motorway in a single day still only uses one day of validity.

Validity Period: 10 consecutive days from start date
Price 2025 (Car): €9.90 incl. VAT
Price 2025 (Motorcycle): €5.80 incl. VAT

Recommended For:

  • Weekend trips to Austria
  • Transit journeys through Austria (e.g. en route to Italy)
  • Short holidays of up to 10 days
  • First-time visitors exploring Austria
  • People who rarely drive in Austria

Special Toll Sections in Austria

The vignette does not cover certain special toll sections. These are charged in addition to the vignette and apply to all vehicles (including those with a valid vignette).

Motorcycle Vignette

Motorcycles also require a vignette for using Austrian motorways and expressways. However, the tariff is significantly lower than for cars. The vignette is affixed to the motorcycle — for the digital vignette, the motorcycle's licence plate is registered.

Motorcycle Vignette Prices 2025:

  • Annual vignette: €38.20
  • 2-month vignette: €14.50
  • 10-day vignette: €5.80

Motorcycles with sidecars are classified as motorcycles and pay the motorcycle tariff, provided the maximum permissible total weight does not exceed 3.5 tonnes.

Special Considerations for Motorcyclists:

For motorcycles, the sticker vignette is typically affixed to the licence plate holder or another clearly visible, solid part of the vehicle — not to a windscreen.

The digital vignette is particularly recommended for motorcyclists, as affixing the sticker vignette to a motorcycle is more difficult than to a car.

Motorhome & Van

Special regulations apply to motorhomes and vans, depending on the maximum permissible total weight (MPTW):
